Best Pure Vegetarian Food Restaurants in Delhi NCR

Dear sweet vegetarian food eaters, are you sick of eating below-average vegetarian food served by Haldirams or Bikanervalas (don’t sue me, please?) I mean, it’s not like they are giving their food at very economical prices, they charge an exorbitant amount (I’m not saying they are all bad, but hey, we deserve something lip-smacking, hear happy, oxytocin emitting food, isn’t it?). I mean these mass chains are not even budget-friendly, they do not even offer waiter service and to top it all, they offer those preposterous dip teas that taste like the devil! I mean messing with my food, I might tolerate that, but my chai-you’ll never hear the end of it(I might cry, too).

Your girl is a pure vegetarian and I usually avoid places where non-vegetarian food is cooked (I have my reasons)-although I do indulge in a trip or two (annually) to Big Chill (their pizza, pasta, shakes, cakes..everything is just ah-mazing!) but other than that, I prefer to eat in eateries that offer pure vegetarian food.

Following are the golden finds that I have seen in and around Delhi.

1. Veg Gulati

The dal makhani and butter naan they offer is a match made in food heaven. I just can’t even begin to describe how amazing this combo is. Moreover, their dum subz biryani is simply delectable. The starters like paneer tikka, and kabab platter were simply to die for. These restaurants are a must-visit, at your own risk though, since you cannot stop once you eat there. The other vegetarian food dishes they offer are quite excellent quality and quantity wise too.

Pro tip:

Order one main dish first, since the food is quite heavy, you can order according to your appetite.

P.S-The ambiance and decor are pretty decent and the vibe is quite rich and boujee.

Location: Pandara Road, Green Park
Price for two: Rs 2,500/-

2. Sarvana Bhavan

If you wish to have a pure and authentic South Indian vegetarian food experience, then Sarvana Bhawan is the way to go. They serve piping hot sambhar along with crispy dosa and the masala they put in their dosa is to die for. The chutneys they serve are truly delectable and guess what sambhar and coconut chutney are served unlimited! I would surely recommend Delhities to try their Onion uttapam, Curd Rice, Rava Onion Masala Dosa, and SS Meals Thali and to forget all your worries by having their great filter coffee.

Pro tip:

Try to visit their Janpath Square, Connaught Place branch, and that too during the weekdays since it tends to get extremely rushy during the weekend(waiting can be up to 1 hour)

Price for two: Rs. 1,000-1,200/-

3. Baljeet’s Amritsari Kulcha

The authentic Punjabi thali, with dollops of butter floating on the crisp kulcha along with thick Amritsari pindi chana, the chilled raita, and pickled onions. This is definitely what my Punjabi vegetarian food dreams are made of. This outlet offers a variety of stuffings of the kulcha- mix, onion potato, cottage cheese(paneer) but I would surely recommend the mixed kulcha thali. This outlet also serves other North Indian vegetarian food like Dal Makhani but the kulcha is the hero. I would recommend you to visit the nearest outlet since the chana, raita, and pickled onions can be refilled as much as you want!

Pro tip:

If you’re diet-conscious, you can ask for no butter as it tastes amazing too. Pair the kulcha with a sweet lassi and what you will experience is absolute bliss!

Price for two: Rs. 300-400/- for two

4. Burma Burma

Burmese food is highly underrated and so is this cafe! This cafe is unique for its wonderful decor, the cuisine they serve of course and for their passion of serving high quality, hygienicly prepared vegetarian food.  The wide variety of food will make you fall in love with this pure vegetarian food outlet. The vibe of the cafe is cozy and the staff is extremely hospitable. This place will feel like a warm hug to your soul. Their noodles, samosa soup, and bubble tea are a must-have.

Pro tip:

Ask for the most famous vegetarian food dishes they serve or their personal if you feel adventurous!

5. Amrik Sukhdev

Are you even a Delhite if you haven’t been to Murthal? I mean Amrik Sukhdev is the official gedi pitt-stop for us, right? Or is it the destination that we fix for our long drives to replenish our vegetarian food cravings? The aloo parathas with oodles of white butter, the kadak chai, and the crispy yet tender mixed pakoras are meant to be consumed when at Sukhdev. The place is always bustling with people, day or night, I mean it is a rare sight to see even a single table empty; even on the weekdays.

Pro tip:

As soon as you enter the premises look for a table that is about to be empty and stick to the place, this is the only way you will get a table since the staff is busy serving, cooking, and cleaning.

Price for two: Rs. 1,000-1,500/- for two
Location: Grand Trunk Rd, Murthal, Haryana

Delhi NCR peeps! It’s high time that we vegetarians enjoy some awesome quality food! It is unfair to us vegetarians that we see booze and non-veg everywhere whereas the non-vegetarians get to do and eat whatever they want!  Vegetarian food outlets are not hard to find,  they are just lurking near us-waiting to be explored!
